Paw Paw May Cure Cancer, Research Finds


Researchers say that papaya leaf extract and its tea have dramatic cancer-fighting properties against a broad range of tumors, backing a belief held in a number of folk traditions.

According to researchers at Purdue University, papaya/paw paw contains 50 biologically active ingredients, many of which fight bacteria, parasites, fungi and certain varieties of cancer cells. In studies on mice and other animals, papaya extracts have successfully reduced tumors without any toxic effects.

In addition to its long list of cancer fighting substances, papaya (or Paw Paw as it is known in Australia) has large doses of both fat and water soluble vitamins. In particular its high vitamin B17 content, a vitamin utilized in chemotherapy treatment for many years now.
